False Daisy
Eclipta prostrata
False daisy (Eclipta prostrata), known in Vietnam as cỏ mực, is an upright herb of the daisy family standing up to about eighty centimetres, its stems clothed in stiff hairs and its narrow, opposite leaves hairy on both faces, two to eight centimetres long. Small white flower heads open in the leaf axils and at the branch tips, their slender bracts five to six millimetres long and also hairy, followed by little three-angled or flattened winged fruits barely three millimetres long. The plant grows wild throughout Vietnam, and it is the whole herb that is gathered, used either fresh or dried.
