Papaya Leaf Powder
Carica papaya
Papaya leaf (Carica papaya) comes from a tropical tree of three to seven metres, its straight, occasionally branching trunk marked all over with the scars of fallen leaf stalks and topped by a crown of very large leaves, each blade cut into six to nine pointed, unevenly toothed lobes and held on a hollow stalk 30 to 50 centimetres long. Native to tropical America, the tree is grown throughout Vietnam, raised from seed and in crop eight to ten months after planting. Like the trunk and roots, the leaf runs with a milky latex, and it holds carpaine, a bitter alkaloid the plant carries chiefly in its leaves.
