Soursop Powder
Annona muricata
Soursop (Annona muricata) is a tree of six to eight metres, brought from the tropical Americas and grown in Vietnam for its fruit, which is a common one in the southern provinces. The fruit is a large egg-shaped berry, 25 to 30 centimetres long, green to yellowish and covered in straight or curved spines, its white flesh holding many dark brown seeds. Ripe fruit is eaten fresh, blended with other fruit into iced drinks, or whipped up with water and sugar; green fruit is dried and ground. The smell is agreeable, the taste mild, lightly sweet and sour, close to melon and strawberry.
