Wheatgrass Powder
Triticum aestivum
Wheatgrass is the young green leaf of wheat (Triticum aestivum), an annual grass 40-150 cm tall with cylindrical stems, solid nodes and hollow internodes, often strongly tufted, and normally forming two to five tillers. The leaves stand in two vertical rows, each a flat, linear, parallel-veined blade 15-40 cm long and 1-3 cm across. Wheat was first domesticated in the Fertile Crescent between 7500 and 6500 BC and is the most widely adapted of the cereals, yet little is grown in South-East Asia: Vietnam's plots in the northern mountains of Cao Bằng, Sơn La and Lai Châu have never exceeded 2000 hectares, and the country imports its wheat.
